A native of South Charleston, West Virginia, Ryan has both a Bachelors and Masters degree from the University of Charleston where he played college baseball while furthering his education. He has been a PGA member since 2003 and is a Certified PGA Member in Golf Operations, General Management, Player Development, and Teaching and Coaching.
He started his career at Kanawha Country Club in West Virginia before serving in both Pennsylvania and Florida, traveling back and forth as the seasons changed. He served at both Island Country Club and the legendary Eagle Creek Country Club on Marco Island, Florida. He also served as Director of Golf Operations for Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, Florida.
He also handled business development with the wellness chain “Stretch Zone,” opening multiple franchises for the fast-growing company with multiple franchises also owned by former NFL great Drew Brees who now serves as a spokesman for the company. Ryan opened several franchises before selling his businesses and returning to his career on the golf course.
He joined the Shangri-La team as PGA Director of Golf in February, 2024, having served immediately prior as Director of Golf for Concert Golf Partners, running golf operations at two courses, Indian Spring and Fountains Country Club in Boynton Beach and Lake Worth, Florida.
