Fitness Center

Shangri-La Fitness Center is located inside the Shangri-La Resort Hotel and offers a fitness facility complete with state-of-the-art equipment, including ellipticals, treadmills, bikes, power racks, dumbbells. For a more personalized workout, we offer personal training sessions that can be designed around your fitness goals, age, and health.  The indoor pool is next door and is accessible to Members and Hotel Guests. Meet the Personal Trainers

Shangri-La Fitness

Kari Filson is a native of Bartlett, Kansas. She and her husband, Greg Hopeman, currently have a home in the Shangri-La Estates. Kari has always been an active athlete with a focus on fitness. She is passionate about providing accurate information on fitness and nutrition while achieving her client’s personal goals. Kari was Co-Owner/Operator of Curves franchises from 2004-2007. She also Owned/Operated Baker Martial Arts in 2011-2019. Having completed her National Association of Sports Medicine accreditation, she is now focusing on Personal Training. She is also currently working to receive her Nutrition Coaching and Golf Fitness certifications through NASM.

In addition to her business experience, she is a black belt in American Goju Ryu Karate and is training to earn her black belt in traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu.

Savannah Brown is from Dickson, Oklahoma. She is a Certified Personal Trainer and Nutritional Coach. Savannah fell in love with the area and purchased a home here with her husband and two children. If you can’t find her on the course, you can be sure to find her in the gym. Her passion for health and fitness started at a young age. With a lifelong love for sports, she received a softball scholarship to NCTC. She currently plays for Team USA Slow Pitch Softball. She has always had the drive to help others reach their health and nutrition goals. Through this certification, she developed a whole new outlook on what it means to help others.


A native of Norman, Oklahoma, Mary Ellen Risinger began teaching weekly Water Aerobics Classes at Shangri-La Resort in December 2019, after teaching classes at the Cleveland County YMCA for 30 years. She is a Certified Water Aerobics Instructor with a National Fitness Certification and CPR Certification. Mary Ellen’s classes are so much fun you might forget you are also enjoying great health benefits.
